Before you can start tutoring you need to create a tutor profile (My account > Profile).
Once you have finished creating your profile, please contact us to request approval (Help > Contact). If you have any questions regarding your tutor profile or require assistance, please contact us (Help > Contact).
Profile sections
Availability
Select the days and times in which you can generally be available for lessons. If you have some availability with a time slot you can select it, even if you're not available for the entire slot. For example, if you can be available from 5-6pm then you should select the 4-7pm slot, since you have some availability within that time range. This helps students and guardians to find tutors with matching availability, but you are not obligated to teach at the times you specify. If you do not select any time slots then new clients will be unable to contacting you (since you've indicated you have no availability).
Photo
Upload a photo of you which contains your head and shoulders only. The photo should be professional and friendly with a plain background. Photos will be cropped to a 2x3 ratio (WxH) and should be at least 200x300px. Profile photos have a significant affect on which tutor profiles are viewed by students and guardians. They also allow students to recognise you when they enter your online Tutor Room for the first time.
Qualifications
Add your professional qualifications. You can add up to 5 and should choose those which are most important for the tutoring you offer.
Post-nominals
If you would like to display any post nominal letters you can list them here (e.g. BSc MA PGCE). Post nominals are shown on your profile summary and indicate that you have professional qualifications.
Years experience
Indicate the number of years of teaching or tutoring experience you have.
Experience
Describe your teaching the tutoring experience. This section is very important to prospective students (and their guardians) when choosing a tutor. Try to include as much detail as possible, while staying relevant to teaching and tutoring. Write in prose using the first person and use 500-3000 characters (about 80-500 words).
More
This section is optional and can be used to add any other details which you would like to share with prospective students (and their guardians). Write in prose using the first person and use a maximum of 3000 characters (about 500 words).
Summary
Summarise your tutor profile in 150-300 characters (about 25-50 words). This text is used on your profile summary which appears in tutor searches on the site. You should highlight the most important details from your profile to encourage clients to click through and read your full profile. Write in prose using the first person.
Category tags
Add all the tags which are relevant to you and the tutoring you offer. You can scroll through all available tags or type into the box to search for specific tags. New tags can only be created by administrators, so if you require a category which is not present, please contact us (Help > Contact).
Ranking boost 1
Select the category tag which is most important to you. You will appear higher in tutor search results for this particular category.
Ranking boost 2
Select the category tag which is second most important to you. You will appear slightly higher in tutor search results for this particular category.
Rate
Select your hourly rate for new students in £ GBP (shorter or longer lessons are calculated pro-rata). This is the amount you wish to receive into your bank account, without deduction. Agency fees are added to this amount to give the overall cost to new students.
Free trial
Indicate if you wish to offer a free trial to new students. This will be shown on your profile and your profile summary. Tutors who offer a free trial to new students receive significantly more tutoring requests (learn more about free trials).
